Re-Elect Lynn Katz

Lynn and her husband raised their two children in Connecticut. She moved to Avon with her husband, Robert, in 2003. Her family has embraced living in the woods and has joyfully adjusted to sharing their property with the local wildlife. As a retired teacher and school principal, a parent, grandmother, and author, she cares deeply about public education and what is best for all children. Throughout her career as an educational leader in high-performing districts (West Hartford, Farmington), Lynn has always prioritized listening to stakeholder input. She has extensive experience with developing responsible school budgets, implementing curriculum, and advocating for the needs of the whole child. Lynn is proud to be a member of the Avon community and would be honored to serve a second term on our Board of Education.

Lynn’s continued priorities as a member of our district’s Board of Education:

To share her knowledge, skills, and educational experience to ensure our schools continue to meet the ever-changing academic and emotional needs of our diverse population of learners.

  • To promote the health, safety, success, and happiness of all children in this community.

  • To support Avon’s administrators, teachers, staff, and taxpayers in our quest for continuing improvement, responsible spending, and excellence in all aspects of our children’s education.

  • To ensure Avon students become successful global citizens who are critical thinkers, able to evaluate different sources of information, develop knowledge, skills, and an appreciation of literature, the arts, sports, science, and technology.

  • To promote joyful learning experiences for our children, balancing high standards with creative explorations and including that secret but important ingredient—fun.
